White Linen & Word Shortage

I keep running out of white linen, and it's not exactly easy to come by around here.  So many caps and shifts have been happening lately!  I'm so exhausted though I think that's really all I can write for now. :)  Happy sewing!

Almost Autumn OR Forget Pumpkin Everything, I Need a Nap

It's truly amazing how quickly time goes by when you barely have time to breathe!  July was the worst: reenactments and market set-ups every week, sewing constantly and feeling like I'm getting nowhere, etc.  August, I'm realizing, has basically not existed.  I feel like it just started, and yet here I am staring at September in a few days!  Honestly?  Good riddance, August.  I need a break!

One of my 1950s aprons--heading to my Etsy as soon as I get a minute!

HSM: April, May, June, & July 15

Playing Catch-up!  I managed to submit all of these on time through the Facebook group (and May's challenge snuck into my last post) but I'm still *attempting* to document my challenge progress here!

April: War & Peace

Initially, I was going to make my husband's new regimental coat--but then I ran out of time.  This is an ongoing theme of my summer!

1770s Robe a l'Anglaise (and The Poofy Purple Petticoat)

I've been so busy, this seems to be the permanent state of my car:

I also just realized this is the first proper-ish picture of the stays I made!

May?

Good heavens, what a bad blogger I am! A whole month escaped without a single post. :( Oh, May... it's been real but I'm glad you're gone. What a crazy few weeks!

The one really good thing about being behind on posts is that I have loads of pictures to share.  So...

Warning: Picture Heavy.

Five Thousand Projects Under the Sewing Machine

Happy Friday!  I am frantically getting ready for my first craft fair, and not taking many pictures along the way. So, instead of talking about my progress, I'm just going to share my inspiration board for my current projects. Lazy, yes, but cute things!

Allaire Village Reenactment 2015

I apologize for the delay--I know Tuesday is not Friday, but I have an excuse! We had a marvelous weekend at Allaire and it was really, really hard going back to "real life" yesterday.  My brain is currently all fuzzed up from allergies (thank you, nature!) so that wasn't helping.

Of course, picture evidence...

Friday Failure

I've lost count how many times I've ripped open seams on my robe à l'anglaise at this point, but at least the back is coming along.

Colonial Williamsburg, Spring 2015

It's Friday, I'm home from our trip, and I have been looking at my Williamsburg pictures all afternoon while sipping tea.  I feel spoiled.

It was such a great little vacation!  I cannot wait to go back, and I've been pestering my husband about a trip this summer already.

I was not able to go in costume as my blue linen gown is fighting me in the shoulders, and my cotton print gown is still unfinished, but luckily my daughter's costume was complete (mostly).

First Day of...Spring?

And it's snowing.  Sigh.

I'm completely fine with daily blizzards all the way up to the last day of winter, but come Spring I am 100% D. O. N. E.

In fashion news, my camera's memory card has wandered off, so unfortunately this is a picture-less post!  It's a shame because I really want to show you all what I've been working on.  I FINALLY cut out my cotton anglaise and I'm stitching furiously as often as my fingers can stand it.   In less than a week I will be heading to Williamsburg, yay!  But that means I have to hurry up.

Happy "Spring" everyone. :) I'll check in after our trip with as many pictures as I can manage!

HSM: February 15 - Blue

I am not quite sure what to do with the sensation I'm feeling about having actually accomplished a sewing goal two months running but I expect I will get over it.

Williamsburg 2015 Progress

I suppose we can all just forget my pledge to post more?

But never mind that!  This is far more exciting:

Resolution: Post More

I'm not sure why I thought starting a blog in the midst of doing homemade gifts for Christmas was a good idea.  Apart from the trousers I made my husband for said holiday I'd barely sewed a single stitch until a few days ago (more on that later)!  My initial intention for this blog was to post every Friday, but Fridays keep happening without my notice.  I resolve to try harder.

In other news, a historical Christmas was had.

Nankeens!
