CoBloWriMo 2017 - Day 1

Day 1: Introduce Yourself

It’s been nearly 2 years since my last post.  In the interest of starting CoBloWriMo 2017, let’s begin anew.

Hello!  My name is Cait.  I’m a self-taught seamstress, mother, and partially educated* fashion historian.

I am really, truly, horrendously awful at blogging.  I would like to change that and that is why I’m going to try to “win” this challenge. I’m hoping I do better with this than National Novel Writing Month, which I never fail to, well, fail.
I don't like selfies = weird face.

I really love the idea of maintaining a costume blog—or any blog at all, really.  I’d use the excuse of being a work-at-home-and-usually-single-mom** of a very opinionated 4 year old but there are loads of “mommy bloggers” out there making it work. What’s my problem?

Social media is a brain numbing (yay) time suck (not yay).  At the end of a long day of housework and work-work and trying to convince my daughter that playing independently is not a punishment but rather an opportunity…all I want to do is lie down and scroll through my costuming Instagram feed before passing out.  Sure, I could use the time between my daughter’s bedtime and my bedtime to write posts or sew amazing non-work costumes, but I just don't. I’m too tired!

Obviously the answer is to fit it into my normal schedule before the exhaustion sets in.  The problem there is my special brand of workaholism. I get very stressed while working, but if I’m not actively working*** I get stressed that I should be. This is an unfortunate combination as I often just do nothing and then feel worse. :P With this challenge I am going to try to overcome it, at least in part, for my own benefit and sanity.  Also for the challenge.  Yay winning. ;D

So anyway hi, I’m Cait.  I like fashion and I am a mess.  Who are you?

*While largely self-taught as far as the historical accuracy goes, I have in fact been to university.  I have not, however, completed my history/theater degree.  I want to finish ASAP.  Problem is by the time we settle in and I’m ready to enroll, we move again. Which brings me to:
**Military wife. It’s super. D:

***Work = sewing for Willoughby & Rose, cleaning, parenting, cooking, paying bills, running errands, etc.
